How a helmet protects your head1 min read

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know how important helmets are, for head protection. Helmets are fascinating. They protect the head by distributing energy and reducing the impact of a collision.

The primary goal of any motorcycle helmet is to protect the rider’s head during impact, by absorbing maximum amount of energy and destroying itself in the process.

A helmet has 2 components:

  • Thin, hard outer shell (made from durable, high quality ABS, PVC or fiberglass, protects sharp objects from penetrating inside the helmet)
  • Soft, thick protective padding (made of densely compressed Expanded Polystyrene or EPS, absorbs most of the energy)

To remain well protected at all times, ensure the following:

  • Get a perfectly fitting helmet (check your fit here).
  • Keep the helmet straps tightened (obviously).

Apart from protecting your head from injuries, a helmet will also protect against strong wind and dust particles (which may otherwise damage the eyes).

Motorcycle helmets not only protect the head from injury, but they also provide protection against strong wind, dust, and smoke.
